Wheat Wave
Hop Haus Brewing Company
Appearance (4.5):
Pale golden with noticeable haze, SRM around 3. A touch darker than expected for the style, but visually appealing. Good lacing right from the start.
Aroma (4.0):
Orange peel, coriander, citrus, and tropical fruit—pineapple stands out most. Bright and pleasant, though a bit misleading at first, with no distinct malt or yeast character upfront.
Flavor (4.75):
Surprisingly complex. Juicy tropical notes lead—mango and pineapple—followed by unexpected toffee and buttery sweetness. The yeast plays tricks here, adding layers rather than defining the profile outright. As the beer warms, hops emerge more clearly, finishing with a blunt but well-placed bitterness that cuts the sweetness cleanly. Balanced, rotating flavors that keep pulling you back in. A late-blooming aromatic hop sealed the score for me.
Mouthfeel (4.0):
Medium-light body with a smooth, solid feel. Lively enough for the style without being sharp.
Overall (4.25):
Unique for a witbier. Tropical, slightly sweet, and hop-aware without losing balance. Not entirely what I expected, but in a good way. The flavor spectrum keeps evolving, making this a beer worth revisiting. Well done.
