A beer dark in colour with a smooth yet smokey nose, carrying a slightly nutty body with elements of a dubble, followed by a lasting sweetness.

• Look – 3.5 – Brown with a touch of head around the edge, no lacing.
• Smell – 3.0 – Really can’t get much smell at all, but that could be my sniffer.
• Taste – 4.0 – Tasty and sweet. Tastes like sweet fruits – figs, raisons and the like.
• Feel – 3.75 – Medium body, light carbonation.
• Overall – 4.0 – Close to Dogfish Head’s Raison D’Etre – one of my favorite beers which is now discontinued. I think this beer is on the right track – but could use a little more non-fermentable barley to increase the mouth feel and the ABV a little. I wouldn’t call it a dubble, but I wouldn’t call it a Belgian dark ale, or any type of dark ale in fact. Just a nice low ABV late night sipper, whatever it is.
