Black Cat Moan is our take on an imperial stout. We maxed out our mash kettle with this monster coming in at 11.1% ABV. She is a roasty beast with coco, cacao, espresso, and dark fruit notes yet not boozy and balanced out by her floral hop backbone. Take this beast home for the perfect beer float!

Poured from a pint can. Body pours dark black with little head. Not much lacing during tasting.

Nose is a nice malty char. Taste follows nose but is accompanied by a good hop bite and coffee which effectively hides the ABV.

Carbonation was low and mouthfeel was light but not unpleasant. I slowly sampled this stout, allowing it to warm to room temperature.

Good stout strong in power, nice hoppy presence and offered without affectation.

I drank three 16 oz. cans and I can't find my glasses.

Smooth, tasty. Out of this world.

Thank you,

From 8One8 Brewing website: Black Cat Moan is our take on an imperial stout. We maxed out our mash kettle with this monster coming in at 11.5% ABV. She is a roasty beast with coco, cacao, espresso, and dark fruit notes yet not boozy and balanced out by her floral hop backbone. Take this beast home for the perfect beer float!

Note: the can says 11.3% ABV, so the formula got tweaked somewhere...or they just printed it wrong.

Pour is black and thick, with fairly small tan layer of foam that slides away pretty fast with minimal lacing.

Aroma is dark fruits(raisin, prune), molasses, cocoa, hint of coffee. Taste follows but sugary, malty & booze are in evidence. It's a delicious imperial stout.

Feel is oily, sumptuous, sticky - love it.

Nearly perfect in taste and feel, if the foam/lacing game improves this is a 5 star stout.
