22oz bottle poured into a La Fin du Monde tulip; first from Shade Tree
p- ended up dropping the bottle before pouring- got shaken up pretty good; pours deep mahogany w/ a 1-2f frothy light tan head; heavy lacing left behind; looks great
n- here's where it goes south.. oxidized dark fruits; a touch of wet cardboard; not real pleasant
t- dark fruit tartness/bitterness dominates the profile and intensifies in the finish; coats the tongue; soapy/medicinal; some musty malts detected in there as well; not starting out great- hoping it gets better as it warms (unfortunately it didn't)
mf- med-bodied with med carb; coating; a bit chalky toward the finish
o- sad to say that this is a musty, oxidized mess; tastes like an American barleywine that is well past its prime; I'm guessing it either wasn't crafted well to begin with or it was infected; regretting the $11 I spent on this bottle
