Black pour, some light leaking around the edges, tan head. Some cocoa, char, and coffee on the nose.
The coffee flavor is pretty strong on the taste, with the char and cocoa pulling it back in check a bit, but not enough to give this that creamy feel I associate with an oatmeal stout. Nice beer to sip, but potential for much more.

Very shallow and basic. Has your requisite chocolate malts and smoothening oats...and that's about it. Reticent and inexpressive, with no vivid flavours (e.g. roasted barley) whatsoever.
Drinkable, though its muted flavour profile will turn off the discerning drinker.
I don't dislike it, but apart from batch consistency, there's little here to applaud. Probably this troubled new brewery's best beer, but what is that really saying? At least it doesn't have overt diacetyl, unlike most of Crooked Ewe's offerings at the time of this writing.
