On tap into a pint glass
A - Beer arrives in front of me with a creamy 2 finger in height head that is a light khaki color and dissipates very slowly to a thin creamy ring. The beer itself is black and opaque with moderate carbonation visible around the very outside edges of the glass. 4/5
S - Typical of the porter style, aromas of dark coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla, dark roasted malt and molasses all come out as one entity and blend together nicely for a rich aroma. Bitter and earthy, but also a bit sweet as well. 4/5
T - The flavor follows the nose dead one with dark coffee (not quite espresso strength), dark chocolate, vanilla, dark roasted malt, and molasses seeming to come out as one and bounce off each other in a spastic manner. Herbal hops add to a moderate bitterness from the coffee and chocolate notes which lingers for quite some time but is not unpleasant for anyone accustomed to coffee or dark chocolate. 4/5
M - Smooth, full bodied, heavy, and creamy throughout. There is a light dryness that comes out on the back end but this really does not linger for any time at all, rather serving to cleanse the palate. 4/5
O - Despite the heaviness this beer is somewhat sessionable due to the low abv and straightforward flavors with no single flavor dominating. That also makes for a beer that is easy to pair with food. Flavorful and well balanced. 4/5
