Served from a tap in a clear pint glass, the color is a dark orange-amber. It's opaque and there's a modest and enduring white head. There's a nice malt/hop balance in the aroma. There's a nice malt/hop balance in the taste. This isn't over the top in any way, unless the 8.5% ABV is considered such. The mouthfeel starts off wet and smooth, then ends dryly and cleanly bitter. That's an interesting aspect, as the malt/hop combination here would best be described as earthy. Because there is no distinctive quality to it, this may be underrated, but it's very good and very drinkable. The ABV is well integrated into the overall taste and mouthfeel. There wasn't much glass lacing.
