DATE: December 8, 2019... OCCASION: two weeks of Advent down, it's time to try another Cypress brew... GLASSWARE: Duvel snifter.... this frames a picture-perfect NEIPA epitome--sallow, murky orange yellow smear, its head a white, soap-sudded pile that laces appreciably... its circle makes for a jagged crown... lemon, grapefruit, vanilla, light lactic hints, and I guess some pomegranate, though its not a scent I encounter often... some alcohol vapor in the air as well... the lactic infusion changes this from a potentially crunchy business to a milky, thickly built ale with a crisp dryness late... its aftertaste is brief, punctuated by a passing interest... the flavor profile is ginger, milkshake, grapefruit, bright spice, and no discernible malt balance.... plum and pear happen to stumble in here as the beer gets bigger... bitter and harsh, this grates a bit as it delivers its hazy hop promise...
