Poured from a 16 oz. can. Has a bright yellow color with a 1 inch head. Smell is predominately of oranges. Taste is oranges, some spices, a bit of pineapple, refreshing. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a pretty good beer.

Decanted from a 16 oz (473 ml) Captain Lawrence muffin top pint: canned 06/04/20; code BRU WHAT YOU LOVE.
A: Pours a cloudy, dark golden color with a two to three finger, foamy, fluffy lemon chiffon head, solid retention and decent lacing.
S: Aromas of grapefruit, orange, and pine overlay a light caramel note.
T: Semidry. Elements of palate follow nose at first, but quickly takes on a strong lychee flavor with a coriander spice note. Really very interesting. Bitterness becomes stronger and predominates as it warms. Peppery aftertaste.
M: Light to medium bodied. Solid carbonation. Chewy.
O: A very exciting taking on the style. Like it dry, different, and peppery.

Saw this on the shelf at Gary's in Wayne not too long ago and wanted to give this a go. Never had anything from Cypress before even though they're not that from from me here in Jersey. Also can't recall ever having a beer with the BRU-1 as it gave this an unusual taste that took a bit of getting used to.
Typical pour to this as the liquid was golden, hazy, and cloudy with a bit of dark sediment swirling in it before settling to the bottom. A moderate head topped this off before settling nicely as the head the lacing left behind was in the form of spotty rings that were wavy and loosely-defined. Lots of earthiness, bitterness, metallic notes, and some turbid melon in the nose as they came through more in the taste. The Amarillo was pretty straightforward as the BRU-1 made this feel like it had Idaho 7 or Simcoe as the experimental hop. Some pineapple and dank fruit cocktail emerged once this fully warmed up as the malt was crackery, basic, and somewhat recessed. Enough carbonation was here to keep this light as the aftertaste was a cross between deep, dank stone fruit and a dewy forest, which made this feel stronger than it was in actuality.
That's because this was a session beer, amazingly. It would be easy to have another in a sitting but the taste was just a bit too in-your-face to have more than one of these at a time. This was fine to kick back with but it didn't break any new ground from me, although I enjoyed the 70's-looking label. Canned on 6/4 with "BRU WHAT YOU LOVE" written underneath that, I needed to have more from Cypress as the hop burn in the aftertaste may or may not have been an anomaly.
