Copenhagen 28/10 2020. 44 cl can from Mikkeller web-shop. What looks like poster art from the seventies on the can. Orange and red moon used as the zero in 20.

Pours opaque, hazy, pale yellow with a medium-sized white head. A bit bubbly. Settles as thin layer of foam unable to cover the surface of the beer. Substantial lacing.

Aroma is medium intense with fumes of sweet exotic fruit mingling with acidic and citric notes. Peach and nectarines. Citrus and grape fruit.

Light carbonation. Medium thick, lightly tingling, soft texture.

Flavor is intense with a medium strong sweetness followed by a stronger, citric bitterness. Aftertaste is sweetish with a bitter undercurrent. Lingers for a while. Finish is dry.

Juicy, fresh and delicious. Good one.

6 weeks old. Can to wine glass.

L: Pours a hazy, milky yellow with a fluffy white head that leaves a bit of lacing. Some yeast sediment in the bottom of the glass.

S: Candied lemon and grapefruit, fresh strawberries, white grapes, and notes of bubblegum.

T: Candied grapefruit, ripe orange and tangerine, strawberries, sweet white grapes, and hints of fresh pineapple. Slightly grassy and piny. Medium sweetness, medium bitterness and a bit zesty.

F: Very full, very juicy. Slightly creamy. Medium low carbonation.

O: Outstanding stuff and one of the best (single) IPAs I‘ve had so far (if not THE best one). Aromatic and flavorful on the one side, smooth and drinkable on the other side. Exceptionally deep and complex considering its rather low ABV.

Pours a hazy, bright orange coloration with a medium, foamy head. Smells of light biscuity malt and tropical/citrus hops, with notes of passion fruit and grapefruit, as well as some dank and piney accents. Taste is an excellent balance of light biscuity malt and fruity, juicy, dank and slightly resinous hops, with tropical and citrus notes of passion fruit, mango, orange and grapefruit, as well as distinct grassy weed and hints of pine. Finishes with a medium bitterness and some passion fruit, grapefruit and dank weed lingering in the aftertaste. Soft, pillowy mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.

I really think that Verdant, next to Cloudwater, are making some of the best damn NEIPAs coming out of Europe right now. Such a shame that they are so hard to come by. This is still fantastic even at just over four months old, feeling super dank and weedy, with hints of sticky pine resin and still rather vibrant, slightly acidic tropical and rather zesty citrus notes, showcasing the Strata and Citrus hops absolutely brilliantly here. Seriously, if this is still this good at four months old, it must have been bloody *stunning* fresh. Overall, this makes for a very enjoayble, rather dank and slightly bitter and resinous example of the style with a great body and mouthfeel as well. I have adjusted my score slightly upwards to make up for its age.

look: three finger bubbly white head with good retention, beer is an ultra hazy murky straw to amber colour, gorgeous looking.

smell: brown bread, lot of lemon, lemon curd, orange, mango, slightly dank, slightly earthy, sweet, caramel, floral, smells nice enough

taste: an unique tasting ipa, lot of lemon, lemon curd, orange, lot of pink grapefruit, some berry flavour there, blueberry, really floral, some grass, little earthy, still quite sweet, bit of biscuit and brown bread, medium bitterness on the finish, it’s nice.

feel: medium bodied, medium carbonation, super smooth, very refreshing, lingering bitterness on the back of the tongue.

overall: a refreshing and characterful ipa, first verdant beer, really want to try more.
