#1798 - Blind-tasted except for the beer's name and brewery/country...
L- Superficially black but held to a light it's ultra dark ruby red. Pours clear with a 3mm dark tan head. ps@+10mins, holds up pretty well.
S- Deeply roasted, roasty, a small hint of smoke.
T- Follows the smell^ very closely. Somewhat hoppy-dry into the finish.
F- Quite pungent, ok carbonation in the mouth, hoppy dry into the finish. No sweet aspect here (thankfully), as seems to be present in many modern black beers.
O- It's pleasant enough though the hoppy-dryness and negligable 'warmth' of any malty richness on the palate leave it a bit austere vs my tastes.
