Here's our take on the traditional Munich Festbier that's enjoyed at the wonderful Oktoberfest each year. Soft and smooth like our Helles but with an added subtle malt and hop depth courtesy of some Weyermann Munich malt and a little heavier hopping than usual.

440ml can.
L: Clear, amber colour with one fingers of head of head that collapses to a smear and leaves spotty lacing. Great colour.
S: Rich aroma of orange citrus fruit.
T: Malty, citrusy and moderately bitter.
F: Rich mouthfeel, nicely dry, low carbonation.
O: Forgot I was drinking a lager at times - carbonation is very low. Nicely malty and looks fantastic.

L- Pours quite dark amber, clear with a 1cm dense white cap
S- Bready, nice. Likely more to it tho I'm congested.
T- Has that malty roundness of the Marzen style, whilst balancing it with a moderate/sufficient and clear hop aspect.
F- The carbonation in the mouth seems to be dropping, not clear about that - it still looks good in the mouth. Could also be due to the poured beer gradually warming. The result is the beer now comes over a touch richer/sweeter...
O- Very drinkable and nice to see it hasn't had the more trad parameters of modern Festbier twisted to suit the tastes of UK hipsters. I'd happily drink this again, though it ain't cheap... another time in a fresh professionally cleaned glass to guage how the dissolved CO2 vs mouthfeel holds up whilst it is enjoyed.
Bought from Bacchanalia Mill Road Cambridge 440ml can £4.69 BB: 28/08/25
Blind-tasted/rated apart from name/style/ABV. Now I'll read the can for clues: ABV now 5.5%, Nothing further there, though take the empty can to Scandinavia and get a 1 krone refund ;;
