A 330ml bottle with a BB of Aug 2018. Acquired a little while back from Home Bargains. Named after Bow Fiddle Rock on the Moray Firth; the label describes it as a golden ale with aromatic citrus notes.
A: Poured into a tulip. Possibly bottle conditioned. A bright amber colour with faint haze and modest carbonation. Produces a small head of frothy white foam that lasts for a moment before settling and eventually dissipating.
S: Aroma of vague fruity hops with hints of subtle white fruits, grass/hay, mild leafiness, ale yeast and a touch of grainy malt. OK but nothing special.
T: Tastes of mild fruity hops with notes of white fruits, faint citrus peel, grass/hay, leafiness, ale yeast, earthiness, grainy malt and stewed husks. Pretty dry, followed by an understated bitterness upon swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with soft carbonation and decent body for the strength. Lightly astringent. Aftertaste of bitter aromatic hops, subtle fruitiness, grass/hay, ale yeast, earthiness and mild malt.
O: A balanced pale ale with a fairly average character. Lacklustre looks, while the aroma and flavor showcase subtle aroma hops, ale yeast and light malt. Body is OK. Drinkable and pleasant enough, but no need to hunt it down.
