A 330ml bottle with a BB of July 2018. Acquired recently from Home Bargains. Described on the label as a lager named after a local Moray beauty spot.
A: Poured into a pilsner glass. A rich amber hue with some floating sediment and light carbonation. Yields a decent head of frothy white foam that lasts for a moment or so before subsiding and dissipating.
S: Aroma of pale malt with hints of light grain, earthy yeast, subtle grassiness, faint spice and a twinge of stewed husks. OK.
T: Tastes of light malt with notes of mild grain, earthy yeast, subtle grass/hay, a hint of spiciness and faint stewed husks. Pretty dry, followed by a delicate grassy bitterness upon swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with soft carbonation and decent body for the style. Could be a tad livelier. Mildly astringent. Aftertaste of light malt, earthy yeast and faint grassy hops.
O: Not a bad effort. Subpar looks - head retention needs work. Aroma and flavour are alright but the hops could be more defined. OK body though the carbonation could be enhanced. Could be great with a few tweaks; drinkable enough and worth sampling.
