We took our signature Peanut Butter Stout and ramped it up for you! The peanut butter aroma meshes with vanilla accents complimented by a rich mouthfeel. Hints of bourbon add to complexity of this barrel aged beauty.

Thanks to DonnieT79 for this one, from his NBS BIF box. 12oz can (dated 2/18/20) poured into 14oz teku. Poured the expected solid black color with just under an inch (much lees than the non barrel version from a few minutes ago) of dark tan head that had moderate retention and no lacing.
The peanut butter that was dominant in the base beer, was very subdued here, just hints really, and the barrel was even fainter.
Both the PB and barrel were stronger on the tongue, but still not bold. The roast of the base beer still had a touch of bite on the finish though.
The body was smooth and even, with a semi-sweet finish.
Drinkability was good, no issues finishing the can.
Overall, a solid brew, worth trying if you see it.

12 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 2/20/2020. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 2 finger fairly dense and rocky khaki head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, peanut butter, roasted nuts, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, and dark/brown bread/crust; with lighter notes of vanilla, bourbon, oak, licorice, dark fruit, smoke, charcoal, herbal, grass, peppercorn, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/black/roast/bready malts, peanut butter, and light-moderate earthy hop/barrel/fruity yeast notes; with big strength. Taste of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, peanut butter, roasted nuts, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, and dark/brown bread/crust; with lighter notes of vanilla, bourbon, oak, licorice, dark fruit, smoke, charcoal, herbal, grass, peppercorn, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal, grassy, peppery, roast, charred bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, peanut butter, roasted nuts, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, dark/brown bread/crust, vanilla, bourbon, oak, licorice, dark fruit, smoke, charcoal, herbal, grass, peppercorn, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/black/roast/bready malts, peanut butter, and light-moderate earthy hop/barrel/fruity yeast flavors; with an awesome roast/hop bitter/sweet balance, with no cloying/acrid/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering hop/char bitterness. Medium-plus carbonation and fairly full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/velvety/bready, and fairly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Mild increasing warmth of 10%, with minimal booze lingering after the finish. Overall this a fantastic flavored imperial oatmeal stout. All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/black/roast/bready malts, peanut butter, and light-moderate earthy hop/barrel/fruity yeast flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the big ABV with the mellowly bitter/charred/drying finish; great soft/silky feel. Fantastic balance of rich malts and authentic peanut butter flavors; with solid earthy hops and restrained fruity yeasty. Light residual sweetness with lingering hop/char bitter dryness. A highly enjoyable offering, and impressive style example. Definitely lacking in the barrel department, but still a big step up from the base beer as an imperial version.

Pours black with a finger of khaki foam. Aroma is peanut butter, which is a little dry. Roasty and toasty malts help support the aroma, with toffee, chocolate, oak and bourbon adding further sweetness and complexity. Flavor profile is peanut butter with toffee, molasses, chocolate and roasty and toasty malts. There is just a hint of barrel character, adding a touch of bitterness via the charred oak and a hint of heat via the bourbon. Balance leans towards dessert sweet. Mouth feel is medium-thick with a silty grain. Overall, big peanut butter notes - huge. There is a little depth beyond too.
