Consumed on draft at the brewery on August 30th, 2015.

Beer is a murky, cloudy yellow-amber with virtually no head.

Aroma is peppery and resiny.

Flavor is odd. No malt to speak of and the hop profile on this beer is black pepper and bitterness. The brewer explained that this was not the hop profile they were going to keep and that they would be switching to New Zealand hops as soon as they came in. It would be an improvement.

Mouthfeel was medium-bodied with low carbonation.

Overall, I'd say skip this one until the new hops arrive.

APAs typically are full bodied hoppy pale ales that are borderline IPAs. Do not go into this beer expecting hops.

When poured it actually does look the part. But when there was nearly no hop aroma to speak of and the taste followed through with that.

Overall this tasted like an average Amber Ale and had very little in common with an APA.

On tap at San Fernando Brewing Company in San Fernando, CA.

Pours a murky dark orange with a foamy tan head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, and fruit aromas. Taste is much the same with grain, biscuit, and fruit flavors on the finish. There is a very mild amount of earth bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is an average beer that is decent, but there are no hops to speak of and isn't a very good example of the style.

Serving type: on tap.
