2007: 500 ml bottle, bought at ULTRA Stadionparken, Stavanger. Like all Neumarkter Lammsbräu beers it is organic ("õkologisch"). Cloudy straw coloured beer, large white head. The aroma has the standard n/a "boiled" notes (over-boiled vegetables, grit or porridge) The flavour has some of the same notes, but is fairly bland. Some weak citrussy notes make the beer tolerably refeshing when cold. If you MUST have a n/a beer, this one is not the worst of its kind, but it is not a beer you’ll want to go to for great taste.

This was very difficult to review. I tried to review it as a hefeweizen, while simultaneously keeping in mind that it's not your average hefe. It poured up a cloudy yellow just like any other hefe, but with a dramatically smaller head than I am accustomed to concerning this style. Smell was nearly indistinguishable from pizza crust. Pizza Hut deep-dish to be exact...seriously. Cleary it's the presence of yeast that gives off this "pizza-esque" smell, but I have never had a hefe that smelled *this* much of pizza.
Taste, as far as a hefe goes, was crap. However, considering that this is an N/A beer, it's leaps and bounds ahead of *anything* locally available in this category. Mouthfeel is abouth where any other hefe would be. A rather bizarre beer, really, but I'm glad I tried it and would certainly recommend it to someone who *had* to drink N/A. You should try it....once.
