Pretty darn good dunkelweizen, dark brown/black in color. thin beige head. Roast grains come through in aroma and taste. Nice mellow bitterness and smoky esters. Tasty!

.5L, best before 9/12/11. An organic Schwarz-Hefeweissbier.
Pours a cloudy, chocolatey brown (not black) with red highlights. The head is at first voluminous, but gets fizzy and loses staying power quickly. Not much lacing.
The aroma is nice, straight-up banana bread, with yeasty and toasted notes.
The flavor is fine, if a tad watery (flavor-wise) for a Dunkelweizen. It's a pretty dry wheat beer, with more of a dark, crusty bread flavor than sweet, fruity goodness. Some notes of bitter chocolate, but mainly just pure, kilned malt. The mouthfeel is nice and full, with a fluffy and slippery quality.
This is a solid Dunkelweizen. Dry and refreshing, with some good malt overtones.

One of the better beers I have had from my German supermarket so far! The head foamed up very quickly indeed even when I poured the second glass, which is not always the case.
It's an incredibly refreshing Schwarzbier with a very light and bubbly, perhaps too bubbly, mouthfeel and a very rich and complex taste, hops and chocolate and caramel. It was nice to have such a dessert-y taste in such a very light beer.
