An offering from the small batch series. Barrel aged for 18 months.
One finger, beige head which dissipates to rim bubbles quickly. No resulting lace. Deep ruby brown color. Light passes easily and the beer appears crystal clear.
Strong caramel aroma with a touch of sourness. Mild sweeter cherry in the background. I also get some recently crushed raw darker crystal malt nose.
Very rich body with a modest level of carbonation. Lightly sweet with a solid caramel base. Very boozy--the alcohol warms the throat when swallowing. Overall, it ticks off all of the Wee Heavy Scotch Ale boxes with the exception of the barley wine-like alcohol.
