Halloween is a time to let your imagination run wild and dive into a world of fun and creativity.
Inspired by the excitement of Halloween, Costume Contest is like trick or treating for adults.
This stout is dressed up with peanut butter, chocolate, and caramel notes. Roasted malt sneaks up on the creamy, nutty flavor of peanut butter cup that haunts your taste buds in the most delicious way. It's not just a beer– it's a costume party for your tongue.

Dark brown with no light passing. The moderate beige head dies away within a minute. Not even rim bubbles remain. No lacing whatsoever.
There's juicy fruit aroma initially. Mixed with burnt malt smell, there's a final ashen note. Very odd.
The dark chocolate flavor shows up first. Soon, raspberry jelly candy tastes emerges. Decent body enhanced with a lower carbonation level. Unusual worth more candy in the finish than anything stout like.

Poured from a can into a tulip glass
Appearance – The beer pours a nearly black color with a tiny tan head of fizzy foam. The head fades instantly, leaving but a trace of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is big of a roasted and toasted black malt smell mixed with a strong showing of roasted peanut and some dark cocoa nibs. Along with these smells comes a bit of vanilla and brown sugar and some light caramel and plum.
Taste – The taste begins with a thick and robust toasted and roasted malt with a big showing of dark chocolate and some moderate level of caramel and brown sugar. There is also a bit of peanut butter mixed in there as well, but it is much lighter then would have been anticipated from the nose. As the taste moves forward a good showing of vanilla and crème join in, along with a bit of loss of the caramel. Notes of coffee and a big brownie like flavor join on at the end, leaving one with a very thick and heavy dark chocolate brownie like flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – At only 5.7 % abv. the body is like oil; thick and viscous, almost too much so. The carbonation is light, making sense for the style and the thick feel.
Overall – A bit too thick and malty for me. Not overly sweet, which I liked, but sorta a syrupy malt bomb for the most part.
