Made specifically for those who have a soft spot for flavored coffee- the English-style stout that the Little Fish brewers borrow for the base beer is elevated to imperial status in order to balance the lushness of hazelnut and cream that layer upon.
The lavish stout pours black with bronze at its extreme margins. With a light and mocha froth swirling on top, its aromas are seductive with caramel, coffee, chocolate and savory hazelnut. Much the same on the early palate, the deeply caramelized taste is toffee-like and bold with maple, pecan and molasses.
And as its decadence oozes onto the tongue, the hazelnut takes on the praline character of pecan pie with a bittersweet chocolate wrap. As bold coffee continues the early and savory complexities, a walnut finish ensues with a pep of creme de cacao to warm the palate.
Full, creamy and velvety, the lightly carbonated stout weighs on the tongue with a gentle silky push to relax the tastebuds and to offer a final taste that rides the line of a sipping beer versus a beer meant for drinking. Its warm and rich after-palate trails with echoes of hazelnut and cappuccino.

Day old howler purchased at the brewery Jan. 30. Fresh off the tap, there was a bitter note up front that was followed by lactose and hazelnut. After sitting for a day, and being served slightly warmer, the bitter not up front is muted and a chocolate note comes up and blends better with the lactose and hazelnut. This is a great milk stout.
