I love a dark sour and this one does not disappoint. Having a bottle of the 2018 purchased at the Root Cellar in Cincinnati during a recent visit.
Pours a dark brown color with nice head and lacing. Smell and taste of very dark wine. Flavors of dark roasted malt, pumpernickel, earthy and woodsy. Just a hint of bourbon booziness. Dark sour cherries, blackberries. A bit of cinnamon. Very satisfying beer!

750 ml bottle, Batch B031, bottled on 07/27/17. Served in a Teku glass, the beer pours a cloudy reddish/brown color with about an inch light tan head that stuck around for a long time. There's also a good amount of lacing. I like the aroma, the brew smells like dark bread, vanilla, bourbon, oak, red wine and some tart berries. Taste is similar to the aroma, with earthy, vanilla, caramel, red wine, tart berries, oak, dark bread, vinegar, apricot and bourbon flavors. I think it's more of a vanilla/oaky taste from the barrels than a "whiskey/bourbon" flavor. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's coating and smooth with a moderate amount of carbonation. I thought it was a good overall beer, there's a nice amount of tartness but it doesn't overpower the other flavors. Definitely worth picking up! $17.99 a bottle.

Somewhat ugly varnish brown with some light tan chunks of sediment if you're not careful, and not much head-wise.
Smell is mild, with spiced apple, while somewhat like a Flanders, and taste adds more defined notes of toasted oak, cherry, and red wine. It's real woody, acidic and I'm also detecting some biting notes that possibly suggests a hoppiness that isn't readily apparent.

I lowered my score because I could not detect any barrel booze notes nor apricot, as noted on the label. Still a tasty drink with a massive firm foam and nice lacing. Just wish it tasted a bit more like the description.
