From the brewers at Little Fish in a snifter via Jungle Jim's Eastgate in a growler (!!!)
This most excellent brew from Little Fish that was "recipe by Bob Moore, 2018 Brewer's
Choice winner!" pours a beautiful ruby tinged mahogany with a very nice head of off white
foam that settles to a thick ring, thin swirling pool, and shows some rather nice lacing.
Nose gives way to notes of cherries, light cranberry, sweet brown sugars, some date
notes, and some astringent alcohol elements. Flavors surpass the nose by sheer
presentation with a sweet brown sugar overlapping notes of lightly sweet cherries,
candied dates, light plum, and subtle plum pudding notes with a touch of golden
raisins. Excellent mouth feel; medium warming body, light carbonation that is
near perfect for the style, and a sweet boozy finish that is lightly dry.
This is one darn fine English style barley wine that hits all the right notes
and in a growler----OH MY!
As a lover of the style this one will make for a long memory.
Winner of a brewers contest----good grief, this deserves to
be bottled and aged like a Thomas Hardy's. Reminiscent
to Mephistopheles or Bearded Pat's from Bluegrass Brewing
which was also fantastic back in the day.
Cheers!
