Armitage Road Field Blend was named for the art of field blending wine: where blending is done by tasting different grape varietals in the field, and fermenting them together.
In this spirit, we crafted this beer from fruits within our immediate reach. The base beer is a single barrel of sour blond, fermented for 24 months in American oak. To this, we added 27 pounds of plumcots, from two trees we planted here when we started Little Fish, and 44 pounds of blueberries from our friend Pete’s farm. After months of refermentation on fruit in the barrel, it was packaged and further bottle conditioned for over two months before release.

This one pours a light reddish purplish color, with a small head, and a bit of lacing.
This smells like mostly sour blueberry, acidic and slightly biting, with the plumcots in the background.
The taste is similar. This is definitely tasty, but it's quite acidic and a little bit overwhelming that regard. There's great wine barrel to it, but I think the blueberry is giving this that intensity.
This is light bodied, with a lingering acidity on the back end that smacks the lips.
If this was a little bit more balanced, I'd like it a lot more.
