Wine barrel-aged sour ale with black currants, raspberries & blackberries.

Orrery is an intrepid blend of fruited, barrel-aged sour ales ranging from blond to red in color. The brightness of the fruit, and the dry sparkling finish created an image in our minds inspired by some of our favorite science fiction and fantasy. The image of an orrery -- a working, moving map of a solar system, with planets represented by colorful jewels (and a reference to a highly recommended short story by Samual R. Delaney, Time Considered as a Helix of Semi-precious Stones). Orrery spent an average of 27 months in oak, and was bottle conditioned for months before we deemed it ready to consume. It's ready now. May it accompany you on a journey of your choosing.

Look - nice darker read and thick with a nice whitish head
Smell - so fruity, I took the smells for peach but was way off, still great and loved it.
Taste - bitter tart dark fruit and berries
Feel - medium body with a light carb
Overall - tasty wild ale

16.9 ounce bottle, Batch B090, bottled on 10/21/20. Served in a Little Fish Teku, the beer pours a reddish/copper color with maybe a quarter inch off-white head that didn't stick around for long. Pretty much no lacing. Aroma is nice and fruity, the brew smells like raspberries, blackberries, oak, black currants, funk and some citrus. Taste is pretty much just like the aroma, but there's also some red grapes/wine and earthy flavors noticeable too. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's a bit slick and easy to drink but has a low amount of carbonation. Maybe this is an off bottle for carb but everything else seems OK with it. Other than the lower than expected carbonation I liked it, certainly worth a try if you get the chance!
