"Pinche Guey" is a Mexican slang expression that's not easy to translate, but it's used in the world of professional restaurants (where I encountered it) as an "affectionate insult" to a friend.

Pinche Guey (the beer) is out riff on a strong and velvety Mexican chocolate stout. This batch is a blend of 60% Imperial Stout, aged 1 year, in 13 year old Barton's bourbon barrels, and 40% Imperial Milk Stout, aged 1.5 years in Middlewest Rye Whiskey barrels. After blending, it was infused with whole cacao nibs, vanilla beans, ancho chiles, and Cassia cinnamon.

Here's to all the Pinche Gueys I worked with over my many years in the back of the house: Saul and Juan, Alfonzo and Vincente, Miguel, Jose, Leopoldo, and Efren, just to name a few.

Salud, amigos.

Poured from a 500 ml bottle into a Rastal crystal stout glass. the label says this is Batch #3, bottled on 27 Feb 2024. I bought it at the taproom in Dayton, OH.

This is a thick, dark stout, almost viscous in appearance. No head, as might be expected in a very strong barrel aged beer, but on closer inspection, I do see tiny bubbles constantly rising along the rim of the glass. When swirled, the beer shows legs n the glass like a strong wine. The aroma is stunning. I get supremely dark, bitter chocolate, earthy, woody notes like the dry skin of a vanilla bean, slight smoke, like a charred chipotle pepper, a fruity, spicy pepper note, and even a sharp herbal note that hits me just like mild peppermint. The flavors roll on and on, hitting all the same notes as the aromas, although the moderate chile flavors are more prominent and also bring moderate heat. The mouthfeel is moderate to thick, but silky, with almost imperceptible carbonation. There is hops bitterness to go with the pepper heat, and some alcohol warmth, but much less than you'd expect for the ABV.

This is a stupendous beer, truly amazing in its complexities. It is one of the best beers I've had, period. I did not expect that, and I sure wish I had bought more than one when visiting the taproom.

On tap at the brewery's taproom in Athens, Ohio.

This nearly black and opaque ale arrived with a fine, intentionally short, tan head. Excellent, spicy, complex aroma and flavor. Moderate bourbon barrel aging effect. Light chili heat and partially hidden 14% ABV.

From the 16.9 fl oz bottle in a snifter. This SOLID brew via the Little Lady's
daughter and Jamie pours a deep obsidian with a subtle head of fizzling brown
foam that settles to a razor thin ring, no lacing, but some decent legs. Nose of
bourbon, vanilla, cocoa, cinnamon, brulee, and spicy chili pepper. Flavors hit the
WOW factor quickly with dark chocolate, brulee, bourbon, spicy rye, oak, chili peppers,
cinnamon, dark berry notes of blackberry and raspberry, moderate char, and deeply
roasted goodness. Mouthfeel is full, smooth, rich, coating, warming, and finishes with
a spicy pepper and cinnamon note that is very well balanced!

Overall, exceptional balance and more than drinkable!

Cheers and thanks again to Jammie and Jeanette!

I've waited a long time to join BeerAdvocate, but last night I was inspired. Stouts have always reigned supreme in my book, and there are others I would (and just might) give perfect scores. But I'm starting with this one. It's immediately apparent that this beer was made with LOVE. Every part of it plays as poetically in your mouth as the language of its name. The barrel selections, the stout blend, the anchos and cinnamon...they all perfectly coexist with their individuality intact, nothing overbearing, but the powerful and distinct flavor of the chocolate is what "ties the room together", Dude.
On that note, the bottle art and name are utterly perfect. They literally make me happy, so props to the brewery for giving a masterfully crafted brew such a lovely vessel.
Not quite syrup, a deep brown to black headless pour, every drink of it was a pleasure. The vanilla is subtle, and to me seemed like the link that makes the barrels and cinnamon work so well together. As for the barrels, the bourbon and rye are sleepers, much more prominent towards the bottom of the glass, where you suddenly find yourself remembering the bottle says 12% abv. I'd take this beer anywhere. This is the type of stout that converts people to the dark side. Speaking of dark, I'm going back for a few more bottles to cellar.
A work of art all the way around.

16.9 ounce bottle, Batch B114, bottled on 06/20/22. Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both good. I like the aroma a lot, the brew smells like cinnamon, vanilla, roasted malt, bourbon and chile peppers. Taste pretty much follows the aroma, but there's also some burnt/charred malt, chocolate and cream flavors noticeable. Nice little kick from the cinnamon and chilies, just spicy enough to be interesting. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's creamy and coating with a moderate amount of carbonation. I thought this was a pretty flavorful brew, if you like Mexican Style Chocolate Stouts then this one is definitely worth buying. I know I want to pick up more of this one!
