Black color with creamy mocha head. Aroma has sweet malt, fruity notes, some caramel fudge and damp wood barrel. Taste starts with rich chocolate malt and follows with intense roasted malts, quite bitter and ashy towards the finish. You also get the wood barrel but it's subdued by the harsh bitterness. Medium body with smooth mouthfeel. Overall it's a really well made RIS but a bit harsh at the moment. Some age may improve it.

Really dark colour, medium head disappearing pretty quick, low carbonation.
Smells of coffee and a bit of wood.
The initial impression is one of well made, but nevertheless bitter imperial stout. The coffee combined with dark chocolate becomes present along the way. The bourbon/barrel feel is pointed out after a certain time, when the beer is warmed up a little. The bitterness remains.
A strong character, satisfying in the end. Recommended.
