it might be because we had been drinking some other nice hoppy beers before this one elsewhere around town, but this one was really lackluster for me and my buddy, the worst of the three beers we had here by far, and one i had a hard time with. the hops are not very flavorful, the fermentation is way off, and there is a thinness thats just unappealing in the feel, nothing really seems to have gone right with it, and surely these guys know what a decent ipa tastes like, this probably shouldnt be on tap. there is no way to appreciate amarillo here, its more bitterness than flavor, light citrus is all, nothing distinct or suggesting freshness at all. a bit of malt sweetness is there, but with the funny ferment its almost chemical to me, really super amateur in a recipe that shouldnt be all that hard to execute. i am wondering about their yeast strain, propagation methods, and temperature control during fermentation, this is just off to me. i got the same thing in their other beers, but to a much lesser degree. really not very good, at least in my experience...
