1st review on BA. Had this at the dipa festival held February 8, 2020. Was yet another surprisingly malty (relative to the others) ipa.
Pours a darker copper/brass/amber color like its from yesteryear. Thinnish 1/4" white head. For being Mosaic hops, this didn't smell like Mosaic hops. Not even close. Was also "experimental" hop, wondering if that one is a bittering hop that was used in greater quantity than Mosaic because this had more of a caramel and grain nose than it did hoppy, much less something as powerful as Mosaic.
Taste was bouyed a little bit by that older school bitterness meets overload of caramel. Like when you used to hear about malt backbone, this is one of those beers. For a split second, I thought I was getting coconut out of it, but then realized some other people at the festival had sunblock lotion on and I could smell it. The caramel at least provides a smooth mouth feel, even if you'd rather have it drier and more flavorful hop wise.
Ultimately this beer was a disappointment, albeit not the worst beer I tried at the festival.
