Pours a deep, dark brown coloration with a medium, fluffy, quickly receding head. Smells of roasted, slightly caramelly malt, some chocolate and coffee, as well as a distinct tonka bean note. Taste follows the nose, with a great balance of roasted, slightly caramelly malt, some milk chocolate and lighter coffee and berry notes, as well as a good tonka presence, which brings those typical, slightly herbal, earthy spicy vanilla notes to this. Finishes with a light/medium bitterness and some chocolate, coffee and tonka lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and medium/strong carbonation.
A really nice Stout with a good tonka presence that feels rather noticeable without becoming overwhelming, integrating itself well into the underlying roasted malt, chocolate and coffee notes here. While this feels just a tad light-bodied and over-carbonated, the flavor profile is just right for my personal taste, being rather roasted, dry and bitter, with hints of sweet malts and a great overall balance, while I can really dig that tonka bean presence, which is just right here. Overall, this makes for a very enjoyable, well-balanced brew with a great tonka presence, although slightly overcarbonated mouthfeel.
