Pours a slightly cloudy, golden coloration with a medium, frothy head. Smells of light wheaty malt and notes of tart green apple and gooseberry. Taste follows the nose, with great balance of light wheaty malt and tart green apple and gooseberry notes, as well as some subtle herbal accents and a pleasant underlying lactic acidity adding a certain citric zing to this. Finishes quite crisp and dry, with a medium acidity and some green apple and citrus lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a light/medium body and medium carbonation.
While this is not a traditional Berliner Weiße, lacking fermentation with brettanomyces yeast, it does make for a very crisp, clean and refreshing modern Berliner Weiße that's quite spritzy, with a great acidty to it. I really like that crisp and dry character here, with very little sweetness coming through here at all while the acidity is rather present without being quite too mouth-puckering, with some nice apple and berry notes as well. Overall, this makes for a very enjoyable, quite dry, acidic and refreshing brew that's perfect for what's left of summer.
