Pours a cloudy, deep amber coloration with a medium, creamy head. Smells of bready, grainy, caramel malt and grassy, herbal hops, with just a hint of citrus accents also coming through. Taste is a great balance of bready, grainy, caramel malt and grassy, herbal, slightly floral and spicy hops, with light accents of citrus peel and hints of black pepper. Finishes bittersweet, with a light bitterness and some bready, caramel malt and grassy, citrus hops lingering in the aftertaste. Full mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
Once again this is a fairly hoppy take on a traditional style from Lillebräu, although it really works surprisingly well here for a Maibock, thanks to a great balance of still prominent, sweet and grainy malts and bitter, grassy, slightly zesty hops. It's that firm malt body, combined with some expressive hops that makes for a pretty unique and quite enjoyable brew here, with a good body and mouthfeel as well. Overall, this makes for a unique and enjoyable take on the style with a great balance of sweet and bitter notes.
