Tap at Moxie's in London, Ont- It's not really red first of all, but more of a light amber, almost dark yellow. A medium sized with froth sits a top. Mildly hoppy aroma with soapy and caramel aspects to it. Sweet corn and caramel flavours are teamed up with grains and a mild bitterness. About as expected.

Fairly well grounded as a red ale, without any characteristics that make it particulary American or Irish. Solid malt, perhaps a touch of honey in the flavor, or perhaps suggestive marketing at work. Mildly bitter hops move in a bit past the middle, with some light acidity closing.

Well I finally had a chance to sample the final bottled product after Brick did consumer feedback and recipie tweeking for several months...the fist bottled offering was in a boxed Xmas set of a liter bottle of honey red and a Brick glass...the box promised "limited edition" and some bottles signed by Jim Brickman, but as far as I was concerned I would be happy if the product had enough taste to qualify as a lager....if it was a complete bust, heck I can always use a good lager glass. ;-)
Anyway, the final bottled product here was a bit of a surprise after the bland fizzy draft I tasted this spring. This bottled version has trimmed back the carbonation which makes it possible to actually taste the subtle flavors of this light, Honey flavored all malt lager. It was malty with good biscuit malts ( although the brewer is stingy with the malt), had light herbal hop profile and a detectable honey-citrus clean finish....it is still a watery beer with weak mouthfeel but at least in the bottled version you can taste the malts in it.
Nothing special here but it is a light, pleasant unoffensive flavored all malt lager.

A: Clear, reddish-brown with a white head. No head retention, no lacing.
S: I don't now what those bees were eating, but the honey smell isn't very nice.
T: Sweet, adjunct-ridden. A bit of pepper... not good.
M: Light body, moderate carbonation.
D: I did finish it, but I'd NEVER order it again.

This beer is contract brewed by Brick exclusively for the Milestone's chain of restaurants. Its a unique style (Ive never heard of a honey red before) and Ive heard good things about Brick Brewing so I thought it was worth a try.
I was wrong.
Pours a murky reddish brown color with just a wisp a head and no lace at all. The aroma is atrocious; very sweet and processed. The taste is cloyingly sweet and sort of adjuncty. It tastes like poorly brewed extract beer. The finish is disgustingly sweet. the mouthfeel is slick and nasty. This beer is absolutely horrible and purely undrinkable. I coulndt finish it.

i found this bar in niagra falls that had beer other than molson and labatt on draft. it was called jack's. all their draft beer was from brick brewing co.. i did no treally get a chance to talk to the bartender about the brewery but just dove right in and asked for a pint of the honey red. it pored a medium amber with a decent head that acctually stuck around for a bit. taste was a very malty sweet with a little bit o' hop s in the rear. mouthfeel was rather thick and syrupy. it really made me think of honey for some reason. drinkability was alright. i had two and moved on to the next offering then back for another. a decent brew in a city with not many decent brews on draft.
