500 ml. bottle. Hazy pale yellow colour, which turns into a rather dirty water colour when the foam fades, that is, in the blinking of an eye. But then it turns into a smell of spices, banana, clove, the usual for the style with a wet earth addendum. Medium body, good carbonation and taste of lemon, clove, coriander. Easily the best of the brand I've tasted, although is just the usual thing for a weizen.

500 mL brown bottle, capped, "best by" date stamped on back label (07-07-04).
This hefeweizen poured a hazy, yellow color with huge(!), towering, pillowy white foam that persisted and clung to the glass in clumps. There was a good carbonation/fizz. The smell was lemon and citrus with some wheat and cloves and a hint of banana. The taste was sharp and citrusy with very light banana and clove and a faint hint of cinnamon. There was a light hoppiness in the finish. The mouthfeel was tart and a bit sour and tangy with medium light body and good carbonation. This was a light, refreshing beer, but a bit thin on body and flavor. Also, it could have been an American Wheat Ale instead of a German Hefeweizen.
Thanks to PatandDavid for this one.

Brown half liter long neck bottle with a swing top and a multi-colored label featuring a king holding a mug of beer and the EU's "Bio" label in the upper left corner. Purity law applies. Best before 10/6/04, I opened it on 4/20/04.
Pours a cloudy pale yellow under a bright white two finger head that shows some body at first, but fizzles too quickly. Not much lace on the glass, either. The nose is lemony sweet, with a hint of coriander. The mouth is light and prickly. The taste starts out lemon sour, with the yeast and wheat kicking in a bit later. There is also a hint of hops lurking somewhere near the finish, but the lasting impression is yeast and malt. Another "certainly not great" but perfectly quaffable beer.
