i definitely messed up when i was here, because i got this one after the amarillo, and so i was doomed. the amarillo hops are just so much more pungent and intense than these hops, that it made this one seem much less flavorful, although thats definitely not fair to it, because its amazing in its own right, just a lot more balanced and subtle. for those who dont like the huge american varietals in their delicate sasion, this is the better choice, its more well integrated, but still shows the nuances of this relatively new hop on the scene. the base beer suits it perfectly, hints of pepper and tangerine from the yeast and the hops together, a wonderful complimentary relationship they form. because the hops are less intense in this one, i taste the brett more too, and i really like it. they much have fermented it pretty warm to get so much flavor out of it relatively quickly. its layered and funky, musty and mature for sure, a great strain of yeast, likely in conjunction with another strain or too, as there are some belgian elements going on too. i get a little more bitterness in the end on this than in the amarillo edition too, maybe less dry hop more in the kettle, its tough to say, but they have done a nice job with them in any event. big orange notes in the finish, grassy lush summery vibe as well, and as effervescent and crackling dry as the other one. a heck of a series of beers that i really hope they continue with some other strains. sorachi ace next please!
