another awesome and inventive beer from these guys, a dragonfruit berliner, shocking in its color, literally electric pink, artificial as can be, unless of course you are familiar with the dragonfruit, in which case the color makes perfect sense. not much head here, but the pink color distracts me enough to almost not remember this aspect. it smells great, although much less fruity than it looks like it should be, tangy and tart from the souring process, wheaty but light, and then just a pinch of tropical sweetness and tang from the fruit itself, which definitely has a unique flavor, even though it only comes through a little bit here. the taste is there, but first and foremost its an excellent berliner at its core. the wheat malt texture is great, the acidity is on point, none of the gym socks and stinky feet quick lacto rubbish taste, and a nice lemon property. the fruit addition is solid though, subtle and nice, but distinct and beneficial with the base beer. sweet tart candy comes to mind, watermelon notes, hard to describe if the fruit itself is foreign to you, but its there and its good. floral and a little perfumey, but smart and clean too, especially for the style. very very drinkable too, with a nice low abv and refreshing carbonation. not too acidic to make a night of it either. one of the cooler releases from any denver brewery this spring. the color alone makes it sexy, but the beer is great.
