this has been in the cellar a little while, it actually surprised me when i found it, and was like, oh dang, there is coffee in this, i should drink it immediately, and so i did! a big imperial stout with gobs of vanilla and lots of coffee too, a jamaican java, with enough vanilla for this to smell and taste like a marshmallow covered in nougat and ice cream, its insane, especially because its so dark and deep too! literally liquid fudge in my mouth, enormous chocolate notes from all the grain, and absurdly sweet too, exacerbated and egged on by all the vanilla in this, which is anything but subtle. candied vanilla bean and custard in nose and taste, wet just lit tobacco, toffee and dark roasted coffee, faint astringency but pretty smooth overall. the boozy and candied nature to this are out of control, its huge and diabetic, as much solid as it is liquid really, totally palate coating, wintery, morning vibes too. huge beer, delicious stuff, overboard vanilla, but some bitter roasted balance too, warms up brilliantly, and really is one of the better cerebral beers in recent memory for me. when they dont force it with the trendy hoppy stuff, this is a great brewery. quality liquid here that has held up well! well liked around the table with some good whiskey and a baked peach dessert!
