i really like cerebral, they make some killer beers, but it has never been the hoppy stuff that has turned me on, despite all the attention they get for these beers. i have been critical of their lack of refinement in the past, so i have to call this one out for being better and more tidy than the others i have had. still hazy, still oaty and raw, still very much east coast style, but the beer drinks easier, not so filling and dense, and it doesnt have nearly the same degree of green over saturated hop pellet bite at the end, which i hate in these types. this one is sunny in the glass even with the haze, and is done with citra and motueka, which is the new citra and mosaic for all i care, a wonderful hop combination that we are seeing more and more of, and for good reason. notes of fresh zested lemon, crushed white grape, and sweet mango flesh, its tropical for sure, but the citra is first in aroma and in flavor. i like the high protein grain base with the earthy wheat in it, it seems more subtle in taste, more about the texture, thats smart for these hops i think and something that wasnt quite right in others from them i have had, which have seemed hazy and thick for the sake of it. these hops are awesome, and while there is a little greenness to the finish, its a huge upgrade over almost all other hoppy beers i have had from cerebral to date. really tasty, get it while you can!
