16 fl oz pull-tab can with no canned on/born on/best before date:
Served cold into a nonic half-pint glass. 6.65 ABV. Grist: 2-row, golden promise, wheat, oats, C10. Hops: Mosaic, NZH107, Vic Secret, Strata. "India Pale Ale."
Pulpy and fruity with some "green" (as the kids call it) citrus and hop oils. Pale malt is present as a balancing anchor, and wheat & oats fill it out, reducing depth of hop flavour but helping its appearance for those who must have their IPAs hazy...obviously, I don't think the tradeoff is worth it.
It's a balanced IPA but its low depth of hop flavour coupled with its slightly restrained ABV leave it less likable than much of its competition. It has a guava hop flavour that really shines...I imagine that's the NZH107 hops? Floral, tropical. Not resinous, piney, grapefruity, spicy, oniony, berry-redolent, grassy, herbal, or stone fruit-redolent.
A drinkable enjoyable IPA with a nice albeit restrained hop profile. New Normal may be one of Cerebral's better IPAs of late, but it compares unfavorably to other limited distribution Colorado brewed IPAs (e.g. Weldwerks', Odd 13's), let alone great turbid IPAs from outside its own state.
