really nice wet hop ipa here done with wet strata and a mess of other hops, very light on the grain side, and exactly what i want from one of these, bold but drinkable, fresh as can be. shiny bright yellow in color, looks almost pils-like in the glass with a mirror shine and great carbonation collecting into an inch plus of wispy white head with nice retention, more refined than a lot of these are, but certainly not at the expense of any hop character. strata is forward in the nose, but its also kind of citra-esque and with some southern hemisphere vinous character, herbal and green in a good way, some dank weed, coconut flesh, chardonnay, clean lemon and lemon candy, verbena, white tea, and bee pollen, its oily but never heavy, and the freshness is off the charts, the lightest pils type bready note to the grain underneath is all thats needed. the flavor is identical to the nose, literally no fall off in intensity or nuance at all, and the tropical parts come alive as it warms, pineapple for sure, meyer lemon and maybe faint tangerine, sprite, a hint of pink bubblegum and an ester there, but a clean ferment, and some weedy dankness too. restrained bitterness but not none, light enough overall with such a simple and mild grain base to drink like a pale ale. dry and lively and addicting. this is expertly refined, well layered with the hops, and not just another beer that only tastes like strata (there are a million of those already). impressive offering here, my first from cerebral in ages...
