Brewed as the warm weather component of our Prologue-Epilogue Cycle, this Imperial IPA offers a drier, more drinkable malt bill which complements the tropical fruit crush of Citra, Simcoe, and Amarillo hops.

Almost three years since the last review. I like it! Old school style IPA is a welcome relief to juicy and citrusy and sweet that seems to be the common theme these days. Dark copper hues and clear appearance with a light lacing. Smell is onion, pine, and resin. Taste is sharp, bitter, dank, onion, and pine. Feel is light to medium bodied, slightly mouth watering, boozy. I’ll gladly buy this again if I find it fresh.

12oz draft pour into a snifter shows a hazy orangish-yellow-gold body and briefly floats a 1/8in head of tiny whitish-cream colored bubbles settling to an edge hugging ring and leaving sheets of erratic lacing

Aroma is citrus mostly with a touch of vegetable, onion or celery.

Flavors are flowery and orange, grapefruit citrus, happily dropping the vegetal from the overall bitterness.
I get a sense of tartness, more than a flavor, but no malt to balance bitter.

Mouthfeel is full and almost creamy, with a wet finish and a bitter aftertaste.

Overall one is enough for me, but I'm glad I had it.

June 2018 edit
Clear bubbly, gold body AND the citrus and flowery aromas and flavors are fantastic. No vegetal quality at all and a strong malt back for balance.
Overall it is my current go to. One of only a few I will actually buy 12 at a time.

Taste: Tangy, herbal, floral, tropical hops, crisp, fruit notes. Same with the nose. Warm golden hue, mostly clear, white refine head with a nice webbed lattice. Medium to Medium/full body. Not overly bitter. 83 IBUs

Pours a darker golden orange with a half finger of off-white foam and rather clear.

Piney, resinous, and grassy hops really come through with just a touch of caramel malt sweetness.

Hmm, it is immediately apparent that the bitter, resinous piney and grassy hops dominate the flavor here, a bit too much so.

Light-medium bodied, medium carbonation, dry and bitter.

Overall, I was hoping for more from this beer, but to be honest it's a bitter mess and I enjoy bitter. This unfortunately just lacks any sort of balance and love.

Had on tap. A fine ipa, nothing amazing, nothing bad. Had very garden like aromas and flavors, think flowers, fruits, especially orange, green onion, and herbs. Hops go well but feels like there needs more of a backbone to anchor it all
