Served from the can in a Lagunitas mason jar.
Pours a deep midnight hickory topped by a finger of light sandstone foam. The nose comprises pumpernickel, caramelized sugar, light toast, mild dark fruit, and a few sprinkles of cocoa powder. The taste brings in more of the same, the caramel and pumpernickel now taking on some burnt characteristics, nearly ruining things but stopping just short thereof. It's an SRV-style tightrope, baby. The body is a staunch medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a fluid feel. A solid d-bock, one that strays awfully close to (quite literal) bitter ruin, but one that is able to recover just in the nick of time.
