Our version of a larger scale friendship brew with our friends at BlackStack Brewing in St. Paul, MN.

Our first exploration using whole grapes for our hybrid program, bringing two separate worlds together in harmony.
Using whole grapes from the PNW, we used a carbonic maceration method in one of our open fermenters with our house yeast to make the juice. We then blended in fresh batches of our Brand New Eyes and Rustic Sunday core farmhouse Ales. Bottled still, in clear glass, showcasing the deep mahogany color. Wine notes and funk lead on the nose. On the palate, juicy red fruits are complimented by subtle farmhouse funk and a dry finish.

Picked up a 2021 500 ml bottle from the Hot Spot on Leicester Highway (NC-61) 7-2-25 for $15.19.

Beer poured a diluted red wine red with a wee pink head that dissipated quickly.

Nose is Syrah grape forward with some barnyard funk.

Taste is dominated with red grape, horse blanket, and leather. Finishes a touch sweet but not cloying at all.

Mouthfeel is neutral as there is no carbonation. Feels like i am drinking wine.

Overall, this was an interesting splurge. I was fascinated as this was from a brewery now closed that i much enjoyed in my time in the Carolinas!
