Poured from a tap-filled can into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a slightly hazy, medium coppery amber with a fine, quarter finger head that dissipates to a thick, persistent cap. Aroma of biscuit and dry caramel malt, citrus hops, grapefruit, orange and faint mixed light stone fruit; subdued. Flavor dry caramel and biscuit malt, citrus and piney hops, grapefruit, lemon, pine and mixed mystery stone fruit; moderate bitterness into finish, but pleasant lingering citrus rind bitterness. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. My second coppery, malty IPA from my trip to Monroe. This one also has the out of fashion deeper malt body, but it is mellower. Very nicely balanced and seemed modestly bitter at first, but leaves a lingering, quite satisfying bitterness that I enjoyed. This is a quite English inspired IPA, like a hopped up bitter, and is a very nice sipper. A nice example of the malty style of IPA.
