DATE: July 27, 2017... OCCASION: Shark Week Thursday night... GLASSWARE: Weihenstephan weizen... fresh out the grunt, fizziness accompanies the light golden body that is replete with massive clumps of bubbles... the head is off-white and rings rather quickly... aromatic lemon, bubble gum, the suggestion of Hallertau hops, and lilac--a great bouquet for the style... effervescence is steady... immediate in its palate, a bubbly champagne at the start and a lasting yeast finish at its finish, with an incredibly drinkable body that slings its 6.5% weight without reservation... lemon, honey and slightly tart apple propel this profile forward--the fruitiness commands attention, punchy and medium-bodied... the yuzu--thanks to Sam Adams, I now know what that tastes like--and grapefruit create a subtle, tropical feel that enhances the experience... as hefeweizens go, this iteration can hold its own... easily my favorite Man Skirt to date...

On-tap @ Capital Craft in Green Brook, NJ.

Brewed in collaboration with Two Ton Brewing, this is a Hefeweizen with Yuzu and grapefruit peel added.

Cloudy deep gold color with a small white head. Subtle aroma of banana, citrus, and light clove. I was worried about the Yuzu and grapefruit additions being too strong but they're not at all. Instead, they add a refreshing background citrus note to the beer. It doesn't taste like your typical Hefeweizen, but it's not far off the mark either. Smooth and slightly sweet finish. Medium-light bodied. A nice wheat ale for the warm weather months.
