On-tap @ Man Skirt Brewing in Hackettstown, NJ.
Man Skirt's German twist on an American IPA brewed with German malts and noble hops. It's light amber in color with a solid white head. Gone is the citrus, pine, grapefruit, or tropical aroma/flavor you would find in a typical American IPA. Instead, you get earthy and herbal notes from the hops with a clean, toasted malt base. Experiments like this can easily go wrong, but it's quite a delicious rendition of the style and a nice change of pace. The flavors are well balanced and the feel is spot on. Not too much toastiness from the malt, not too much bitterness from the hops. Medium bodied.
IPAs haven't been my thing lately, but I'm a German bier lover through and through. I wasn't sure what to expect going in, but this one hit the spot for me.
