DATE: September 28, 2018... OCCASION: enjoying a Friday evening after a good week of school... GLASSWARE: Baltika pilsner... poses a slightly hazy, golden body with a few streaming bubbles... its head is a few fingers' worth of bubbly whiteness that settles to a thin foamy layer... toasted oats and hay mix with honey, light flowers and soft spiciness--not an overpowering or alluring aroma, but one that invites the next sip.... smooth, bubbly (again!), rich and sweet, with an easy-drinking finish that encourages a quick finish... its sweetness, courtesy of the Sterling hops, which elicit a bit more citrus and herbal experience than the normal Saaz... the flavor profile is malty, with biscuit and toasted bread... banana, lemon zest, and ground flowers, wedded to a grainy texture, makes this slightly nuanced... a good beer to find on a Friday night, whether it be Happy Hour or later in the night--thirst-quenching with enough flavor to carry it beyond a mouth rinser... nice mix for the Man Skirt crew, in that their flagships are decidedly British,and this is a solid Eastern approximation...
