DATE: July 13, 2019... OCCASION: a summer Saturday night at the in-laws... GLASSWARE: nondescript pilsner... this grunt was taken on a dinner date with Rich and Mary last night, but a pint survived to be measured... this fizzles quickly, its white head sizzling to a disappearance, its bubbles sparse and random... its color is a clear, lightly tinged golden yellow... appearance not being its best asset, its aroma hints of berries, citrus fruits, agave, lime, sea salt, and trace elements of pepper and banana.... a bit more intriguing! the palate hols true to its style, with a light, seltzer-like buzz fading into a soft, wheaty finish--its tartness is the aftertaste, though it doesn't off-put the drinker here... it is sweet and dry, almost like chardonnay, with pear suggesting a harder fruit; the sour lime and passion fruit are blunted by the wheat and mown hay... this is refreshing, a bit of a split personality, and recalls a watered-down Sea Quench Ale...lacking spice or season, it occupies a nice place at a summer party where something of an appertif may be desired... as a stand-alone, probably not as awesome as its name...
