DATE: July 4, 2020... OCCASION: visiting Jer and enjoying Hamilton with a quality beer--perfect way to celebrate our independence... GLASSWARE: Wychwood Hobgoblin pint... pours a translucent, dark chestnut body with fleeting off-white head that retreats to a pencil-thin halo... hazelnut, buttered toffee, caramel, light herbal team make for an aromatic introduction, while the uptick of resin entices further... first sip is as I remember its older brother Better Than Pants--smooth drinkable as a table beer, displaying its light-hearted ABV appropriately... oily at the start, small bites on the teeth, slightly textured and chewable, with a short, dry finish... apple butter, chestnut, and hazelnut, soft mocha, hay, orange peel, lemon, sweet caramel, and toffee malts float in and out of a rather pleasant profile that isn't nearly as busy as the above list implies... in fact, even biscuit and popcorn might be construed here, but the effect is singular and enjoyable... pairs well with the hot day and the hope it is a long, drinkable one!
