DATE: October 16, 2020... OCCASION: finishing a rainy trip to my parents' house with a beer that rightly celebrates its five years of brewing quality beverages in Hackettstown... GLASSWARE: Chimay 150th chalice... off the bat, this builds a swiftly dissipating off-white, bubbling head out of a swamp-yellow, mostly opaque body... honey, earthy yeast, lemon zest, orange peel, light pine, a bit of brut, cracker, banana, vanilla, clove, and champagne... approximating a wheat beer, this creates aromatic allure... halfway into the first glass from a freshly-capped grunt, this sips with a softness that is dry at the finish and medium-bodied in the mouth... a wonderfully rewarding smoothness ensues, with an effervescence that sizzles with life... the clove and banana make this bait as a wheat beer, but the profile is enriched by lemon, pine, and honey... a fitting congratulatory to a brewery that has given its town--and me--a lot of enjoyment... at 8%, a worthy night cap and an outstanding experience...
